Brick fireplace

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

I see it, but I don't feel it. hmmm.  This is my attempt at an advent calendar, which was fun to make. The little packages are filled with either chocolate, a note (ice skating, chop a tree, hang the stockings) or a small toy, like a punching balloon. The tricky part was making sure I put the notes on days that I HOPED to feel like doing the activity suggested. I have never done an advent calendar before, but I really liked the ones that I saw online and my son, after opening the first little burlap package yesterday, was extremely excited and that's beautiful.  I don't feel the blissful Christmas spirit yet. I usually do and I wish I did. Perhaps that is why I have some decorations up already, to help that along. And some snow, maybe that will help!

Question is, do I paint the fireplace? Yikes, it really does nothing for me when I look at it. I hate that it is center of attention in the living room. I don't like the extra color it brings in. Its very deep and sticks out. I do like the brick pattern.  I always wanted to live in a loft with brick wall, so why don't I like this fireplace. I know I would PREFER a white fireplace but painting it is too much of a commitment and I fear, it is not up to me to decide ... after all its been living in this house much longer then me.

  1. Hmmm...I think I'd paint it white. But then, I'm in the "everything looks so nice when it's white" camp.

Oh, who am I kidding. I wouldn't paint it white. I'd think about painting it white. I'd talk about painting it white. But I'd never get around to actually...you know...painting it.

    I love your advent calendar!
